Not Another Blog: Office Fashion, Beauty and Lifestyle
Hi and welcome to the start of my new venture! It has been a big few months of research, brainstorming, ideas, designing, fashion and photos, but I am excited to go live and share this with you.
Over the next coming months, I will be doing a post a week exploring fashion, beauty and hair in the work place. I will have my colleague Georgia demonstrating office hair up- dos in under 10 minutes (she is so talented, you will love this!) and I will do some beauty and lifestyle posts. Something I am really excited about is I will be interviewing and showcasing other ladies in different professions, to gain insight into their jobs and what work fashion means to them. Has their style been shaped over the course of their career from peoples reactions? Does fashion influence how they feel? How do their weekend outfits differ?
I'll introduce myself - though I'm sure most of you reading this know me. I'm Briar, a kiwi girl now living in London, and I work in The Shard as a Recruitment Consultant for Finance and Accounting. I have always been interested in fashion, and working in a corporate environment these last few years has definitely impacted my wardrobe. My friends from New Zealand will remember me with long ginger hair, ripped black jeans, piercings and Dr Martens - how times have changed! Now 90% of my wardrobe consists of work dresses, many of them pink.
I was compelled to write this blog as I wanted some work dress inspiration, and felt like although there are millions of blogs out there, none of them really explore the enthralling subject of Work. Young Briar would have very much appreciated some guidance also- I remember meeting with my friend Nicky in NYC before my move to London to discuss what the heck I should be wearing to my job interview!
Part of the reason why I love my job so much is I get to visit the offices of the finance teams I work with (and work with some pretty cool clients- NBC, Liberty London, Warner Bros, Miss Selfridge etc). I always find it so interesting hearing about different work cultures, and of course seeing what everyone wears. As I am specialised in commerce and industry, I feel I can get away with getting a little creative with colour and patterns in my outfits.
I have no idea where this project of mine is headed, but I hope you will join me! On Wednesday I will be talking about my guilty obsession with all things Ted Baker, and this weekend I will be talking to my first two subjects (haha) about their fashion at work. Rosemary is an interior designer in Nottinghill, and Amber works in PR at a University.
Please leave me a comment with any ideas and thoughts, and PLEASE hit the 'Like' button at the bottom!!. You can sign up if you want my posts straight to your inbox too (hopefully I can work this- it's been a big feat building a website for a tech phobe like me!) Please forgive the empty pages - you will just have to come back and see them as they get filled :)
Much love and thanks for the support,
Briar Prestidge xx
